Moving on

Everything in the apartment has been doing really good. Oliver and Squeakers are doing well as far getting along. Oliver is still being a pain but we love him. Things with my boyfriend have gone south so I will be moving out after I pay my roommates the money I owe them. The big problem about finding a place is somewhere that will open their arms to Oliver so this may take a while. I am trying to set up something temporary. Because I do not want Oliver to go to another family. I love him deeply. Im spending the night away from  Oliver which is sad but I need to go spending with my little brother.

Update for Hope

02-03-10: Hope had her surgery yesterday and is in recovery. We found out that Hope is a real fighter and is holding her own against the odds. Our wonderful vet believes that Hope had been suffering with her injuries for more than 72 hours before she made her way to rescue. No wonder she was in such shock from the pain! After examining her Doc said he believes she is 3 or 4 years old and has had at least 3 litters. Her eye removal surgery was a success but she is still running a fever and being monitored for extreme pain maintenance. Her "healthy" eye also suffered trauma and is receiving steroids. Doc is confident that eye will heal, along with the swelling on her head, and in her mouth. She has two raging ear infections, and an infection in her "pug wrinkles" that are being treated.  Her ears have "fly bites" along their edges which means she has spent her life living outdoors and apparently making babies for someones profit. She lost a few teeth but did not have to have surgery on her jaw. Just some swelling in there now. Her blood work was good which is a relief. She is not out of the woods, but is strong, and making progress. SNPR's Jennifer sat with her today and although Hope was drugged up to ease her pain, she still wanted to nuzzle into Jennifer's arms and lean in for pug kisses.

Her spirit is stronger than whoever did this to her.

That is the worst news of the day. Our Vet believes the trauma Hope has suffered is from a human, and not a car, or animal. A human. Looking at this sweet little girl and thinking of what she has been through at the hands of a human brings us all to tears. It has brought a lot of us to question what kind of monsters are out there. After sending out our plea for financial help with Hope's pending medical bills, we were reminded that for every monster there may be, there are hundreds of others who feel the same way as we do about these little creatures. So many people reached out to help us and donate toward Hope's care. So many people sent money, well wishes, offers of food, fostering, and even an offer for a special new pug bed from the woman who writes "The Daily Puglet" newsletter. The support has been more than we ever hoped for

We realized that when we chose Hope's name, we really found the perfect name for her. (Thanks Emily!) She brought in more than enough money to cover her vet bill, but almost as importantly she actually brought in, well, Hope. Hope that she will recover, Hope that we will find her the most special forever home, Hope that SNPR never has to see another case like this, but if we do, we will be ready due to the overwhelming support we have received in her name, Hope. It fits her perfectly and we all Hope you know how very grateful we are to everyone who supported Hope and SNPR. Although we have more than surpased our goal of raising enough money to help Hope, and we are now confident she will get the best care possible, we have learned all to well that we will never be in a position of turning down a donation.

HELP for HOPE

Meet Hope. Hope has literally been through hell and back in the last few days. Tuesday morning Hope was found abandoned and tied to a local veterinary office. She was in shock from pain, and was barely responsive. After taking her into the vet's office, they found she had a major eye injury leaving her eye hanging from her socket, infected, bulging, bleeding, and in need of removal before she died from the pain and infection. If only she could tell us her story. If she could, maybe we could understand or at least try to understand how a pug ends up in the condition she was found in. How could anyone tie a pug who is suffering so badly to a door and drive away? It is beyond comprehension to us at SNPR. Even after the hardship cases we have seen, it never gets easier knowing this type of abuse and neglect goes on. This beautiful little girl has signs of multiple litters, and what appears to be fight/bite marks. In the next 24 hours, this poor baby will have to go through an eye enucleation to remove the bad eye, and also some reconstruction to her jaw to repair her teeth line. She also needs to be spayed, get shots, and have blood work done to see if her organs are all functioning. If she has had this injury for more than a few days, she will also have to be closely monitored to make sure that any and all infections have been cleared up. At first we were quoted $3,000 dollars to save this little girl and we struggled with the thought of literally depleting our bank account to save her, or letting the vet turn her over to Animal Control which would for sure mean certain death for her. Needless to say, we rushed over to her and got her to our vet within the hour to get her eye removed and get her on the path to recovery. Although we will receive a huge discount from our wonderful vets, we are still looking at approximately $1,500 - $2,000 to save HopeHope needed our help. Therefore, we need your help!
Please consider donating any amount of money you can to help SNPR treat this little pug who has been through so much. All donations are tax deductible.

updates

Well its been a while since I have wrote about myself. I have started a knitting fad at work in building 5. Which would be the building I trained in at work and now I am an official OPA. I have been diligently working on oliver's blanket. So far I have been knitting squares to sew together. I have finished 2 squares that are 3x3 in squares. Which is pretty big and this is the most progress I have ever made on making a blanket. and I am 3/4s of the way done with all of the squares of my "pug cameo color" I will hopefully finish it Wednesday if I don't run out of yarn. Then I will hopefully finish all of the green by friday since I am working 40 hours this week. Then I will have 4 squares done. I think I am going to add more colors to it. But we will see how I feel when I finish the 1st 2 colors to see how worn out. I think its really good for me to have a craft going. Oliver has been good. We are taking him to Pug play day Saturday and I know he is looking forward that. Work has been busy and building 7 then graduated OPA building is more stressful but I really want to go back down to building 5 to help be a trainer. I need to start working out because I have gained some wait so thats another goal for me. Everything here in the apartment is well. Things are clean. Things are calm and no tension. One improvement  is that the animals are getting along much better and actually playing games with each other

oliver!!!

Last night the 4 roommates and I had to make a trip to the ER vet at about 11pm at night because oliver decided to scarf down about 8 whole buffalo wings. That was left on the table for about 3 seconds. He has pancreataitis before and we can not afford and we do not want it again. He is ok. He had to have a fuild shot and need to have his stomach pumped. and FYI the 7 buffalo wings they could get up came out whole. LOL

In the dog house!

Well Oliver got his own blog today http://oliverthepug.blogspot.com which is the good news. The bad news is after our walk, Oliver decided to poop on Cody and Mary's bed. After he had just gone. He is also showing signs of his flea allergy acting up again. I am gonna start the tether method of training with him while I am home and see if I can get my boyfriend to do that also. He has never done something that naughty before. Everyone is pretty frustrated. I am cleaning up after his mess. But we will be doing tether method for now. Does anyone have any ideas on how to break this habit?

Oliver's Note on the blog

I Insisted to mama that she writes a note in her blog about my day today. The first part of my day I got to see one of my favorite people in the whole wide world!!! Uncle Russell came over to see me! And then we went for a walk!! Then I had to have a shower today, cause mama said I was stinky. But brrrr showers are cold. she says that the shampoo has to sit for 5 minutes before I can rinse off. Once I am all clean I can run around like a crazy wild pug! Then I look all handsome for all the lady pugs. Then Uncle Cody came home and that was very exciting. I made an attempt to go say hello to this so called kitty that lives with us but I personally I think its another dog with weird ears and sharp claws. That never wants to play with me.But when I did it made this weird noise so I left and went back to the couch to take a nap with my favorite toy. Its tiger but I made it look like weasel, whatever that is. So along til next time.
